What kinds of investment?

With Lifeplan, your savings are invested in a managed fund.

With a managed fund, you are not buying actual shares or property or bonds. Usually, you buy "units". Each "unit" is a share in the total pool of money in the fund.

The money in your fund is invested ... then any money earned is put back into the fund, adjusting the size of the pool. So the value of your share of the pool will change over time.

It's true that the value of a unit can fall. Over time, though, units in managed funds have tended to rise in value. This makes managed funds a good long term investment.
